General Hospitals, State Pavilion hit final phase

Oba Rufus Adejugbe General Hospital Complex at Agric Olope Area, Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti

According to the Supervisors on the sites, work has commenced on all other buildings that have hitherto not been completed or touched.

“We are all aware that blocks such as Maternity, Male and Female Wards, Out Patient Department (OPD) in Okemesi, Ikole, Omuo, Ode, Ijesa-Isu, Ijan have been painted earlier. Now, other ones that require painting are being given attention while all the inside and outside works such as plumbing, electrical fittings, tiling have been carried out.

So far, the pace of work in other Hospitals such as Emure, Ise, Ijero, Iyin, Ayede, Ifaki, Aramoko, Otun, Efon has also been very steady. The contractors have not relented in their efforts at ensuring that the project is delivered without further delay. And we have always endeavored to inspect the various materials before they are fixed. We certified all the doors, the toilet fittings, the tiles, burglar railings, long span roofing sheets and others. By the time the project is completed, we will definitely see a great change that will, no doubt, stand the test of time,” a Project Supervisor posited.

It will be recalled, that the renovation of the hospitals commenced in September, 2013 after the official flag off ceremonies by Governor John Kayode Fayemi in Iyin, Okemesi, Otun and Ijan Ekiti.

The event took place amidst pomp, dance and excitement of the people in the various communities. Traditional rulers, community leaders, sons and daughters converged at the venues to give Dr. Fayemi a rousing welcome.

Mr. Governor then reiterated his determination to bring about a turn-around in the area of health like other key in his 8-Point Agenda while assuring that the project would be completed as soon as possible.

To complement the renovation, the Governor also promised that the hospitals will be supplied with all the equipment and facilities to meet with current standards in the health sector.

Similarly, the Oba Rufus Adejugbe General Hospital Complex at Agric Olope Area, Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti continues to take different shape and look daily. The painting of the external and internal walls have commenced while the perimeter fencing of the complex has begun.

According to the Site Engineer, the project has gotten to a much higher stage.

“In fact, on the scale of 100%, we are now at 90%. All things being equal we should be done in a matter of weeks. And I wish to say that the Governor has been very impressed with the job. Also, the Commissioner for Health, other Commissioners and members of the State House of Assembly that came at one time or the other were very impressed with what they saw.

I must also say that it gives us great joy to be part of this laudable project. We can say without mincing words that this hospital can be compared with any other ones in Lagos, Abuja and even beyond.”

In the same vein, the State Pavilion which hosted the All Progressives Congress (APC) last Mega rally before the governorship election on June 21, 2014 is at the last stage of completion. The decoration of the stand has been completed alongside the lightings while the landscaping is progressively being done.

“The Pavilion was built to enhance inward investment and an internal revenue booster for the state. Like, I always say, it is cheaper than the Eagle Square in Abuja in cost, but more in capacity. The whole essence is to bring about a regeneration process that will at the long run be of immense benefit to our people.

And there is no doubt, that Mr. Governor has giving a new face to the economic and social status of the state with all the developmental programmes carried out as embedded in the 8-Point Agenda,” Special Adviser, Bureau of Special Projects, Bayo Kelekun noted.
